Unicorn Overlord Has More Content than Any Other Game in Vanillaware's History

Anticipation swells as the release of Vanillaware's strategic JRPG Unicorn Overlord approaches, now less than a trio of weeks away. The game promises to be a vast expanse of adventure, boasting the title of the developer's most content-heavy creation.

Kentaro Ohnishi, Vanillaware's programmer, has shared the significant breadth of the game via the studio's official platform on X (the successor to Twitter). The volume of the game's content surpasses all the studio's previous projects.

The game's beauty, characterized by Vanillaware's signature splendid visuals, is complemented by its substantive gaming experience, assuring players extended periods of engaging gameplay.

For those who haven't been keeping tabs on Unicorn Overlord, its existence was initially hinted at in a 2019 teaser, discretely included as a bonus in a paid prologue to 13 Sentinels: Aegis Ring—only available in Japan. During a Nintendo Direct in September 2023, the game materialized thoroughly before excited fans.

Enthusiasts of Vanillaware's craft have been piecing together what Unicorn Overlord would entail, leading to much speculation until its comprehensive unveiling just months ago. The collected glimpses and information suggest that the game could justify the heightened anticipation.

Unicorn Overlord is scheduled to grace the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S on March 8, 2024. Pre-orders for physical editions are already on Amazon for collectors and fans alike.

At present, there there needs to be a word on a PC version. This stays in line with Vanillaware's past, as they have generally sidestepped PC releases except for their first offering, Fantasy Earth Zero. However, with Atlus (the game's distributor) garnering notable success on Steam, the door remains open for Unicorn Overlord to join their PC game lineup.
