Google Maps update for Wear OS and home shortcuts error on Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch

The Wear OS version of Google's Android operating system, created for smartwatches and other handheld devices. Google has released a new update to Wear OS that includes a number of improvements and bug fixes. However, the update also appears to break the home and work shortcuts on the Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch.

Home and work shortcuts are two of the most useful features of Wear OS. They allow you to quickly and easily get directions to your home or work without having to enter your address each time. However, after installing the latest update, these shortcuts no longer work.

The good news is that there is a solution to this problem. The bad news is that it is difficult.

Here's what you need to do:

  • First, open Google Maps on your smartphone.
  • Next, tap on the menu icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Then, tap on "Settings."
  • Scroll down and tap on "Navigation settings."
  • Tap on "Commute."
  • Turn off the "Commute notifications" toggle.

Now, you should be able to set up your home and work shortcuts again.

This is a major problem for users who rely on these shortcuts to get around. Google has not acknowledged the problem and there is no word on when it will be fixed. In the meantime, users will have to find another way to get directions to their home or work.
We think Google will fix this inconvenient factor. In the meantime, the workaround is to turn off commute notifications in the Google Maps app on your phone.

We will update this article if and when Google fixes the problem.
