Wreckfest 2 Announced: Revved-Up Customization and Enhanced Physics on the Horizon
Publisher THQ Nordic has unveiled Wreckfest 2 during this year's THQ Nordic Showcase. This upcoming driving game is a sequel to the 2014 game Wreckfest and promises to bring an array of new features, including detailed vehicle customization and numerous technical advancements.
The news was revealed through a brief trailer featuring live-action shots of a character in a dimly lit garage mixed with gameplay footage. The trailer also provided our first look at the customization options available to players, which will include creating your own vehicle livery with a variety of unique vehicle designs on display.
Similar to other racing games, custom liveries can be used in multiplayer races or shared with friends. Wreckfest 2 will come with a new version of the game's ROMU engine, which developers claim will deliver the "highest possible fidelity and maximum accuracy" in demolition physics and vehicle simulation.
The game will also include a variety of race modes, a career mode, multiplayer content, modding support on both PC and console, and regular post-launch updates. As of now, no specific release window has been given, nor have the exact platforms been confirmed beyond PC.
Based on the stunning visuals seen so far, it seems likely that Wreckfest 2 will prioritize current generation systems like Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5, possibly bypassing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
