Ubisoft Forward Set to Reveal Assassin's Creed: Nexus, the Upcoming VR Title

Ubisoft has confirmed that the highly anticipated virtual reality game, Assassin's Creed: Nexus, will be unveiled during the Ubisoft Forward event on June 12. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this announcement since the game's mention at the Oculus Quest virtual event in 2020. Developed by Ubisoft's Red Storm Entertainment, the game has been shrouded in mystery, with many details still unconfirmed.

Meta Quest, which took place on June 1, confirmed the rumors and showcased the Assassin's Creed: Nexus logo. However, no further information was disclosed, leaving fans to rely solely on unofficial leaks and speculation. The only solid advice provided was that players should tune into the Ubisoft Forward event at 10 am Pacific/1 pm Eastern for the official reveal, where additional details are expected to be disclosed.

So far, unofficial reports suggest Assassin's Creed: Nexus will offer 16 missions spanning across different time periods in the series' history. Some of the missions will feature familiar characters such as Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2, Cassandra from AC: Odyssey, and both Connor and Haytham from Assassin's Creed 3. The game structure reportedly leans more towards a linear level design rather than an open-world format like its predecessors.

Assassin's Creed: Nexus is said to include a variety of gameplay mechanics such as stealth, pocket stealing, sword fighting, lock picking, and burglary. The iconic leap of faith from the series is also expected to appear, creating a potential problem for VR in terms of motion sickness. Interestingly, the game will offer players two options for movement: using an analog stick or teleportation, a feature commonly found in VR games to prevent motion-induced discomfort.

As the Ubisoft Forward event looms closer, fans eagerly await the first official glimpse into the virtual world of Assassin's Creed: Nexus. With the possibility of a release date announcement, the event could finally put fans' speculation to rest and offer a better understanding of how the game will integrate with virtual reality. Ubisoft's ability to create an immersive, VR-compatible version of the beloved series could mark a significant step forward in both the franchise and the VR gaming industry as a whole.
