Classic Tetris Arrives on Nintendo Switch Online: NES Edition Launching December 12

Nintendo has exciting news for gamers, particularly those who enjoy classic titles. The beloved NES version of Tetris will soon be available on Nintendo Switch Online, enriching the gaming experience for subscribers. This classic addition is set to enhance the nostalgic joy associated with a game that has become a legendary classic in the gaming world.

Nintendo has revealed that the 1989 NES classic Tetris will be included in the Nintendo Switch Online service starting on December 12. This update was announced through a recent post on social media.

The NES version of Tetris presents two distinct gameplay modes: A-Type and B-Type. Players engaging in A-Type strive for the highest possible score. In contrast, B-Type challenges gamers with a board that begins filled with randomized blocks, and the objective is to remove 25 lines.

To access the NES version of Tetris, users need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription, which is priced at $3.99 / £3.49 / €3.99 per month or $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99 for a year. This membership grants players access to an extensive library of titles for NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Game Boy Color.

For those interested in additional classic game collections, such as the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Mega Drive / Genesis, acquiring the Switch Online Expansion Pack is necessary. This pack is available for $49.99 / £34.99 / AU$59.95 annually.

Recently, as part of the November 2024 update, Nintendo has also introduced three new Sega Genesis titles to the platform, including ToeJam & Earl: Panic on Funkotron, Vectorman, and the Wolf of the Battlefield: Mercs. With this update, the collection now features a total of 47 Sega Genesis games.
