Upcoming Galaxy Note 10 Will Contain a New 3D Camera

If you are looking for the latest news on the upcoming Galaxy Note 10, we have something to share with you. You may have already known that the new Galaxy model will come in two sizes. And what's new, each of them will have a camera on the back with triple-lens that features 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors. What does it mean? And is it really cool news?

ToF Sensors: More Refined 3D Apps and Portrait Mode Photos

Time of Flight sensors are not something new. The Korean brand has already used them in two previous models: Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy A80. In the first case, they put these sensors on the front and on the back, and in the second case, ToF was a part of the flip-up camera. The sensors allow measuring the time of pulse's returns of infrared energy to each pixel. This information is important to make a precise calculation of the image's depth.  As a result, the mobile phone can better render bokeh and work with face recognition and AR applications.

Samsung has two major manufacturers from whom it buys lens: KOLEN and MCNEX. Not long ago, KOLEN, one of the biggest Samsung suppliers and a company that produces lenses in South Korea, has announced the building of a new $21.6 million plant in Vietnam. The reason for this was the increased demand for lenses from Samsung. It is expected that the production capacity will rise from 13 million to 25 million items.

As the release of new Galaxy Note 10 is planned on August 7, there are many rumors around it. One of them is that the phone will have two ToF modules — on the front and back panels. Galaxy S10 5G has the same system.  But it is not clear how the manufacturer will combine them with the punch hole design. What's unique is that the triple-stage camera will allow shifting between different apertures depending on the amount of light. For now, it has the following apertures: f/1.5, f/1.8, and f/2.4. As you can notice, the previous models could only switch between two camera holes, not three.

What Else to Expect?

New Galaxy Note 10 will have a series of interesting updates, of course, most of them are not disclosed. We know that the design of the phone will be in an Infinity-O display style like in Galaxy A8s. As for the new technical features, it is better to wait for the official presentation on August 7.
